    Dear Tiki-san,

Thank you for the wonderful work on TuneBrowser and for adding experimental IPv6 support in version 5.7.0.

    I am testing ipv6 UPnP…

I would like to kindly ask if it would be possible to support a per-device setting for prioritizing IPv6 or IPv4 in UPnP communication.

Currently, the global setting under IPv6 level (Experimental) controls the general behavior, but in some environments, different renderers may perform better with different protocols.

For example, one device on my network works more reliably over IPv4, while another benefits from IPv6. It would be helpful if TuneBrowser allowed users to configure IPv6 preference per individual renderer under the “External UPnP renderer settings” section.

Would you consider this as a possible future enhancement?

Thank you again for your continued development.

    Thank you for comment.

I have been thinking about this almost all day.

Player device is identified by friendly name of UPnP device. On the other hand, the decision to use IPv4 or IPv6 is based on the USN name during the SSDP process (after which the friendly name is resolved).
Unfortunately, some devices change their own USN names dynamically (The same is true for IP addresses). Therefore, it is not possible to remember whether IPv4 or IPv6 is preferred for each USN name.

The ability to specify IPv4 or IPv6 preference is unfortunately very difficult.
