Pre-Release 5.2.0.1655 – Recording Date – ‘in’ ‘on’

Hello Tiki

I was looking at the pre-release version 5.2.0.1655 change log and tested the
pre-release. There is some inconsistency regarding the use of recording date.

Re: “The description of the recording date has been changed from in to on.”

Please see the screen capture where the date is displayed 3 ways:

(1) DATE
(2) ‘on’ DATE
(3) ‘in’ DATE

I think there is no need for ‘on’ or ‘in’ and simply displaying the date as
it appears at (1) is perfectly acceptable in all locations.

P.S

This small problem arises because the RECORDING DATE used is not limited to the YEAR value.   I could specify

(a) “1978-01-31”

(b) “1978”

In the case of (a) we would say “on 1978-01-31” however in the case of (b) we would say “in 1978” (because the date is not specific).

I think the easiest option is to omit ‘in’ and ‘on’ and simply display the date value alone.

P.S. Vangelis Beaubourg is difficult album for me (^^;.

Oh, and Vangelis “Beaubourg” is very difficult for me also!  I tend to collect all the official releases from an artist, however this one is my least played CD 🙂

Sorry for my slow reply.  I have checked (5.2.0.1658) and the date looks consistent (good).

I did notice an extra ‘space’ character (see attached screen copy – pink colour comments) however that ‘space’ was also in the version before (5.2.0.1658).  Maybe only some people will notice such things 🙂
