再生環境「windows 10 64bit」→「AL-38432DS」→「AT-HA21」→「ヘッドホン」
「WASAPI」では再生できるのに「ASIO」だとエラーになってしまいます。
ちなみに「DSD 128 5.6448Mbit / s」「DSD 64 2.8224Mbit / s」は
「WASAPI」「ASIO」ともに再生できます。

ネットで調べてみたところ、ご利用の機種はDoPではDSD256には対応していないと説明が出ているようなのですが、WASAPIで再生できたというのは、間違いないでしょうか?

ありがとうございます。これは、PCMに変換して再生されていますね。再生開始時に、該当するインジケータが点滅して、意図とは異なる再生になっていることをお知らせしたのではないかと思います。
DoPではなくPCM変換だと読み取れるのは、
- DSD256をDoPで再生する場合、PCM 705.6kHzで送り出す必要がありますが、352.8kHzになっている。
- データ型がDoPではなくINT:Lになっている。
といった点です。またご利用の機器のインジケータでなにか読み取れないでしょうか。
ASIO再生時に、なぜ自動でのPCM変換が行われないのかは、すこし時間をかけて調べてみないとわかりません。最初のコメントにも書いたように、ご利用の機種はDSD256はDoPでの再生に対応していないと明確に説明されています (おそらくPCM 705.6kHzの帯域が出せないのではないかと思います)。ASIO Nativeでは再生できると思います。
